Fees,
Registration, Times and Location
The fees for workshops are as follows:
- $60 for the entire series for Atlanta
Area Chapter members.
- $20 for individual workshops.
- $3 for full-time undergraduate students
(cash only).

September 19, 2009
"The Orff Classroom Through the Year" - Dr. Deanna Stark
This
workshop will send you home with songs, dances and lessons that can
be used throughout the school year.
October 17, 2009
"Orff – Fan – Fun" - Jos Wuytack
This workshop will focus
on process and explore through different examples how the cognitive
process(analytic and technical) demands a kinesthetic reaction,
which emotionally is charged by visual associations.

February 6, 2010
"Step by Step Putting it Together" - Dena Byers
Using the Orff media,
participants will explore in and create engaging activities for
students to be used as teaching tools in the classroom and
performance pieces.

"Atlanta Area Chapter Sharing"
Members who attended the November National Conference in Milwaukee,
WI will share some of their favorite activities and ideas from
conference sessions.

into the Elements with Children’s Literature and Orff-Schulwerk –
Take Two"

Rhonda Tucker
This workshop will highlight a collection of songs, children’s
literature, and poetry with an Orff approach.

Clinicians
Dr. Deanna Stark
holds a Master’s Degree in Orff-Schulwerk and a PH.D. in Historical
Musicology from the University of Memphis. Certified in all three
levels of Orff-Schulwerk, Deanna is an active workshop clinician,
composer, and has conducted certification courses and workshops
throughout the southeast and Midwest.
Jos Wuytack,
born in Gent, Belgium in 1935, is one of the world's foremost
authorities on the Orff philosophy of music education. He holds
degrees in composition, piano, organ, and pedagogy and has taught
music pedagogy at learning institutions in multiple countries. In
an effort to promote the active and creative approach to music
education, based on the principles of Carl Orff, Professor Wuytack
has given exemplary teacher training courses in 40 different
countries. In 1996 he reached the incredible hallmark of having
instructed 1000 courses in six different languages. Numerous
publications and compositions in the Orff style bear his name,
including the Flemish and French editions of the Schulwerk and two
volumes of Musica Viva. His most recent publications include books
of children's songs with actions, which he has published in six
different languages. In recognition of his worldwide work in the
Orff approach, he was the recipient of the "Pro Merito" Award from
the Carl Orff Foundation in Munich.
Dena Byers
is an elementary music specialist in Durham, NC and Associate
Conductor of the Durham Children’s Choir. She holds Level III Orff
Schulwerk Certification from the UNLV and completed her Master Level
Orff Schulwerk class with Jos Wuytak at the University of Memphis.
She received Level 3 certification from the Creating Artistry
Program with Henry Leck, Artistic Director and Founder of the
Indianapolis Children’s Choir. A National Board Certified teacher
since 2005, Dena has presented workshops at the AOSA National
Conferences in San Jose and Milwaukee as well as for Orff chapters
across the country. She served as a Region IV Representative on the
AOSA National Board of Trustees from 2006-2009. Dena will be
teaching Level I Movement and Recorder at the University of
Wisconsin at Stevens Point in the summer of 2009. Additionally she
has conducted several all-county honors choruses in North Carolina.
Rhonda Tucker
currently serves as music specialist at Vickery Creek Elementary
School in Forsyth Co. Prior to teaching in Georgia, Rhonda taught in
Alabama for 25 years. She holds a BME degree from
Birmingham-Southern College and an MME from Samford University. Ms.
Tucker received Orff-Schulwerk certification from Samford
University, Master Class and the AOSA Apprenticeship Program from
Memphis State, as well as National Board Certification. Rhonda has
taught Levels courses at Samford University and Cobb County, GA.
She has presented workshops throughout the United States in Orff and
musical theatre.
